Katy Perry has recently been criticized for the hit “Dark Horse”. The song was released in 2013 by the singer in collaboration with Juicy J. In one of its lines, the serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer is mentioned, whose crimes are being talked about in the media thanks to the new Netflix series “Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story”. Jeffrey Dahmer killed 17 people between 1978 and 1991 in the Milwaukee area. He even admitted to eating the flesh of some of his victims earning the nickname the Milwaukee Monster. His name is mentioned in some of the verses of the hit “Dark Horse”.
On social media, some users expressed sympathy for the families of the victims and called Perry’s song disrespectful. Others have written that Juicy J was made sick by making young children chant Dahmer’s name. Jeffrey’s name has also appeared in the lyrics of Marilyn Manson, Kesha or Eminem.
“Katy Perry has allowed such terrible lyrics to be included in one of her hit songs. Jeffrey was a serial killer and Katy chose to romanticize his criminal and inhumane actions. She should apologize,” one user wrote on Twitter.
