“American Song Contest” will premiere on Monday, February 21, 2022, on NBC in the United States. The competition will feature original performances representing all 50 states, five U.S. territories and the country’s capital, with artists vying for the title of best original song in a magnificent spectacle. An artist, duo or group will represent each country and perform a new original song, bringing to the public different styles and genres of American music. The live competition consists of three qualifying rounds, followed by the semifinals and the final grand final where a state or territory will emerge the winner. The American Song Contest, one of the newest festivals that resembles Eurovision will be coming to America for the first time, and will be presented by American rapper Snoop Dogg and singer Kelly Clarkson. Snoop Dogg, said she felt quite excited to be introduced alongside Kelly Clarkson or otherwise known as Miss Texas. Clarkson has also expressed his happiness that he will present a concert like Eurovision, as he has always been a fan of this festival. Clarkson meanwhile stated that:
“I’m a fan and I love the Eurovision concept. I’m excited to bring the music phenomenon to America. I’m so happy to work with Snoop Dogg and I look forward to seeing every country and territory represented by artists singing their songs.”
The American Song Contest is expected to last for 8 weeks in a row where it will start on March 21 on NBC, while the grand finale will be on May 9.
