Another South Korean fantasy horror series from Netflix has become a global overnight phenomenon, with Hellbound crashing Squid Game as the most-watched TV show on the broadcast platform.

According to FlixPatrol analysts, Hellbound became Netflix’s most-watched TV series in the world on November 20, topping broadcast ratings in more than 80 countries within 24 hours of the show’s debut.

The series focuses on the graphically violent actions of a team of demons, who pursue sinners who have been previously visited by a celestial being who has informed the victim of the date and time of their death.

Giant-haired creatures burn their victims and send them to hell, causing an outburst of public hysteria.

The pilot of the series, directed by Yeon Sang-ho, premiered at the Toronto 2021 International Film Festival in September.

Squid Game, which premiered on September 19, spent 46 consecutive days in first place.

About 142 million families in 94 countries watched the series, also known for its ultraviolet violence and bloodshed, in October. It has generated about $ 900 million in profits for Netflix.

Earlier this month, Squid Game director Hwang Dong-hyuk said a second Squid Game season was on its way.

“I am currently in the planning process. “I think it is too early to say when and how the second season will happen,” he said.
