Although Ukraine was declared the winner of “Eurovision” last year, unlike the tradition of the festival, it will not take place in the winning country, but in the United Kingdom, due to the war in Ukraine.
This year the European festival comes with the slogan “United by Music”. The BBC has published a promo for the festival which reflects its origins, which was originally created as an experiment to unite Europe. Meanwhile the flags of Ukraine and the United Kingdom have been used as inspiration for the color scheme.
In the semi-finals on May 9 and 11, 31 contestants are expected to perform, of which only 20 will qualify for the grand final on May 13.
The United Kingdom, France, Spain, Germany and Italy automatically qualify for the finals because they pay their broadcasters to take part. Ukraine will also go straight to the final as the 2022 winner.
Regarding our country, Albania will be represented with the song “Duje” by Albina Kelmendi and her family.
According to the draw a few hours ago, Albania, represented by the artist, will perform in the second part of the second semi-final of Eurovision 2023. As mentioned above, her performance is expected to take place on May 11, 2023.
