A small group of wealthy individuals can help solve the world hunger crisis with just a small figure of net worth, says the director of the United Nations World Food Program.

Billionaires need to “get up now at the same time,” World Food Program chief David Beasley said in an interview, citing the world’s two richest men in particular, Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk, who just a few days ago was proclaimed the richest man in the world.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has a net worth of nearly $ 289 billion, according to Bloomberg, which means Beasley is only claiming 2% of his fortune. The net worth of American billionaires has almost doubled since the beginning of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, half of Afghanistan’s population, 22.8 million people, is facing an acute hunger crisis, according to a WFP report released Monday, where 3.2 million children under the age of five are at risk.

After all these statements, Elon Musk is ready to donate a part of his fortune to end the world hunger crisis, it is enough for the United Nations to prove to him how 6 billion dollars will end the crisis.

Elon Musk challenged the claim of a United Nations official who said that only a small percentage of Musk’s wealth could help solve the problem of world hunger. Elon refers to the comment of David Beasley, director of the UN World Food Program, who called on billionaires to cooperate once and for all.

Beasley specifically called for action from Musk and Amazon co-founder Jeff Bezos. Just $ 6 billion, or 2% of Elon Musk’s fortune, could save 42 million people from death, he said.

“If the World Food Program can describe exactly how $ 6 billion will solve the famine crisis, I will sell Tesla shares now and do it.” – Elon Musk said in a post on social networks.

In another post, Musk said that actions need to be transparent so the public can see exactly how the money is spent.
