On Wednesday, Spotify announced that Sheeran’s song “Shape of You” was ranked as the first song to reach 3 billion broadcasts on the broadcast platform. “I just heard that ‘Shape of You’ has reached 3 billion broadcasts on Spotify, which is absolutely crazy,” said the singer, who recently posted his album =, on his Instagram. “I remember this song that reached a billion and I thought it was weird. It’s the first song that has reached 3 billion broadcasts and I’m very happy with it!
Ed Sheeran then thanked Spotify for the collaboration over the last 10 years.
After Sheeran who now holds the record for the most broadcast song on the platform, ranks The Weeknd with “Binding Lights”, which has 2.7 billion broadcasts. In third place is “Dance Monkey” of Tones and I with 2.4 billion, followed by Post Malone and “Rockstar” of 21 Savage, which has 2.3 billion broadcasts.
Sheeran’s songs “Perfect”, “Thinking Out Loud” and “Photograph” are also in the top 20 most streamed songs on the platform.
