Through her social network, Dua shared with her fans the news that the president of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, had given her the prestigious title.
“It is an honor and a privilege to be able to represent my country around the world and continue my work and efforts globally so that we can leave our mark and make a difference,” Lipa wrote in an Instagram post. “The youth of Kosovo deserve the right to liberalize visas, the freedom to travel and to dream. Thank you.”
The post included several photos of the singer receiving a special medallion from Osmani, along with images of official certificates and a printed letter inviting the artist to the president’s office to receive the honor.
Osmani has also shared photos from behind the scenes of the ceremony on social networks.
“Today I gave the title of Honorary Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to Dua Lipa, because she continues to honor our country in every step and every performance”, wrote the president. “I thanked him on behalf of all citizens of the Republic of Kosovo for everything he has done and is making our voice heard everywhere in the world.”
The president also thanked Lipa’s father, Dukagjin Lipa, who together with his daughter founded the annual Sunny Hill Festival in Kosovo’s capital, Pristina.
